I need to record

got by with a pair of binoculars until 1972

pad and pen didn’t do it for me so I saved up for a camera

the instructions were in Russian

it felt embarrassing like wearing flares when everyone else was moving into straights

when Tracey Ullman hit the charts my camera was like sunglasses to hide behind 

then, wearing a camera broke ice

the start of many conversations

new friends introduced themselves with “love the old camera”

my visual records grew and are still growing

they fall into groups

just getting them down here before they fade
